Hong Kong retailer Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group reported solid second fiscal quarter sales buoyed by improved mobility and retail activity across major Asian markets.
Group sales were up 5.8 per cent, driven by Hong Kong, Macau and other markets, which recorded a 54.1 per cent rise. Meanwhile, sales in China increased by 0.6 per cent.
Chow Tai Fook said same-store sales in Hong Kong and Macau rose significantly at 55.7 per cent, with Macau achieving a 116.7 per cent hike. Same-store sales in China, meanwhile, dropped by 12.5 per cent.
The group attributed stronger sales to a rebound in Chinese tourists and the outstanding performance of its newly launched designs for the HUÁ Collection in July.
“Despite current market conditions, the group continued to witness resilient jewellery consumption during festive and holiday periods. The sales during Qixi and National Day holiday were in-line with management’s expectations,” Chow Tai Fook stated.
