An extensive collection of pink, green and bi-colour tourmalines will headline an inaugural rough tourmaline auction scheduled for November 21 to 24, 2023 in Bangkok.
Hosted by tourmaline producer Iridis, the event is described as the world’s first auction of rough tourmalines from Zambia. The first-ever tourmaline grading system will be implemented for prospective buyers at the auction, according to Iridis.
Cyrille Djankoff, the company’s CEO, commented, “This forthcoming auction is the culmination of 18 months of production from our Zambia operations, which will see these stunning gemstones in a first-of-its-kind grading system with 100 per cent traceability.”
Iridis acquired the tourmaline mine in Zambia in 2022. It is the first coloured gemstone mine to be actively participating in The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance or IRMA, according to the company.
