An overview of the coloured gemstone trade alongside pertinent issues such as sustainability, jewellery design and emerging markets will headline discussions at the upcoming International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) Congress in February 2023.
Other topics include the coloured gemstone industry in China, auction business, origin determination, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives, to name a few.
The biennial ICA Congress, scheduled for February 14 to 17, will be held at the Almas Conference Centre in Dubai, with the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre or DMCC co-hosting the event.
Featured speakers include Jeffrey Post, PhD, curator-in-charge for National Gem and Mineral Collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History; Tom Moses, executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer at the Gemological Institute of America; and Gaetano Cavalieri, PhD, president of CIBJO – The World Jewellery Confederation.
“This is an important event for our association that allows industry leaders worldwide to share ideas and strategies to ensure the continued success of the global coloured gemstone market, so it is fitting that this year’s theme is the Future of Coloured Gemstones,” noted ICA CEO Douglas Hucker.
