An exceptional pink diamond ring – adorned with the largest pear-shaped fancy vivid pink ever to be auctioned off – sold for US$28.8 million at Christie’s Geneva.
Weighing 18.18 carats, the Fortune Pink diamond achieved a price well within the pre-sale estimate of US$25 million to US$35 million. The pink gem headlined the company’s Magnificent Jewels sale held on November 8, which was part of the company's Luxury Week.
Christie’s Luxury auctions achieved a total of CHF113.48 million (approximately US$114.24 million) and witnessed global participation with registrants from 20 countries, across four continents.
Other highlights of the sale include a 101.27-carat unmounted diamond, which realised CHF2.93 million (around US$2.98 million); a Graff diamond ring weighing 41.36 carats, which fetched CHF3.65 million (about US$3.71 million); and a diamond rivière necklace from the collection of Lord and Lady Weinstock, which achieved CHF869,400 (around US$884,485).
Four rare jewels from a prominent European family meanwhile sold for a combined total of CHF1.35 million (around US$1.37 million), highlighted by an Art Deco natural and cultured pearl necklace by Bulgari.
