Leading stakeholders in the Hong Kong gem and jewellery trade joined the memorial service on October 10 to honour the life of industry pillar Ken Lo, who passed away on September 25 in a hiking accident. He was 65.
Lo was president and director of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) and director of Eternity Manufacturing Ltd, which he founded in 1986. He also served as HKJJA chairman from 2016 to 2020.
Highly respected in the international jewellery industry, Lo was staunchly committed to the development of the Hong Kong gem and jewellery sector and actively participated in its sustainable growth. A tireless and dedicated industry leader, he spearheaded initiatives for HKJJA members to explore new markets, strategies and digital transformation while fostering strong ties with global partners to tap business opportunities for Hong Kong jewellers.
Written tributes from local and international players lauded Lo’s invaluable contribution to the advancement of the gem and jewellery industry in Hong Kong and beyond.
Informa Markets Jewellery – publisher of JNA and organiser of Jewellery & Gem Fairs – has had the privilege of witnessing Lo’s integrity, consummate professionalism and business acumen firsthand through close collaborations spanning decades.
A trusted and integral member of its Advisory Board for Hong Kong fairs, Lo was a voice of reason and wisdom, offering objective and vital insights that helped steer the shows to greater heights, recalled Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery.
“Mr. Lo has been instrumental in shaping the Hong Kong jewellery industry and guiding it to global prominence. His steadfast leadership and passion enabled the sector to maintain its competitiveness during good times and, more importantly, during challenging periods. Mr. Lo’s sound judgment, generosity and kindness will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during these trying times,” Lau said.
