An eclectic single-owner collection of 20th century Art Deco jewellery pieces will headline Bonhams’ London Jewels sale scheduled for September 21.
According to Bonhams, the collector has accumulated a stunning array of Art Deco pieces, which include, among others, creations by renowned jewellery houses like Fouquet, Mauboussin and Cartier.
Among the auction highlights are a rare pair of natural pearl and diamond chandelier earrings by Mauboussin, circa 1930; a ruby- and turquoise-set bead and diamond necklace by Cartier, circa 1925; a multi gem-set and diamond double-clip brooch by Henri Picq, circa 1930; and a large circular fancy cut citrine and diamond pendant by Georges Fouquet, circa 1920.
Bonhams Head of Jewellery in UK Emily Barber, commented, “Jewellery is increasingly – and rightly – being reassessed as an art form, not just the sum of its precious components. In addition, jewels are highly personal and are a glimpse into the life and times of the people who owned and wore them. It is this combination that makes collecting period jewels so irresistible.”
