Poly Auction Hong Kong’s latest fine jewellery sale generated a total of HK$196.85 million (around US$25 million), with an exceptional Burmese ruby ring leading the sales.
The Fleur de Lotus ring by Cartier, adorned with a cushion-shaped Burmese ruby weighing 8.388 carats and accented with diamonds, sold for HK$57.6 million (around US$7.33 million). The rare ruby is described as having a colour that is “vivid, radiant and rich red.”
Another star of the auction was a jadeite bead and diamond necklace, which features 43 jadeite beads measuring approximately 13.59 mm to 11.42 mm in an opulent green colour. The piece fetched HK$50.4 million (around US$6.42 million).
Designed by Harry Winston, a necklace featuring no-oil Colombian emeralds and diamonds meanwhile sold for HK$26.4 million (around US$3.36 million). A total of 20 Colombian emeralds weighing 65.75 carats adorns the piece alongside 100 marquise-shaped diamonds.
The jewellery sale was part of Poly Auction’s 10th Anniversary Auctions, which achieved a total of HK$1 billion (around US$127.39 million). The event also included art and collectible auctions. Alex Chang, CEO of Poly Auction Hong Kong, said the results indicated the continued vitality of the Asian market.
