Informa Markets Jewellery is holding a hybrid Lab-Grown Diamond (LGD) Summit on August 16 to highlight growth opportunities for retailers, jewellery designers and brands in the LGD space.
Aimed at professional trade buyers, retailers, jewellery designers and brands from Greater China and international markets, the “Your Future in Lab-Grown Diamonds” summit will showcase branding, product, design and business strategies to successfully engage key consumer markets with lab-grown diamond jewellery.
The event will take place from 2pm to 5pm Hong Kong time on the sidelines of the Jewellery Seasons Shenzhen trade show at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center on August 16. It will also be broadcast live on Zoom for international audiences.
The summit is sponsored by X Diamond, a Singapore-based brand of affordable luxury jewellery featuring lab-grown diamonds.
Brand focus
The keynote session, Branding for Success in the Lab-Grown Diamond World, will discuss the importance of branding in the LGD space and examine the appeal of branded lab-grown diamond jewellery in today’s market.
Conducted in English with Chinese subtitles, it will showcase marketing, product and distribution strategies of leading jewellery brands and look at growth areas in the branded lab-grown diamond jewellery space.
Sharing their insights on the subject are Nick Smart of Lightbox and Anthony Tsang of The Future Rocks.
Smart is the commercial director of Lightbox, the international lab-grown diamond jewellery brand launched by De Beers Group in 2018. A qualified chemical engineer, he currently oversees design, sales and business development for Lightbox, leading the company's efforts to broaden the brand's lab-grown diamond product range and expand its wholesale network.
Lightbox offers jewellery with pink, blue and colourless lab-grown diamonds at standard prices of US$800 per carat. It also offers larger stones of up to 2 carats, loose lab-grown diamonds at US$200 per quarter-carat and its Finest premium line of jewellery with better-quality lab-grown diamonds. The brand ships to 75 countries globally and has a presence at 125 stores across the US and Canada.
Anthony Tsang is the founder and CEO of The Future Rocks, the first curated online marketplace for lab-grown diamond jewellery. An engineer by training and a marketer/entrepreneur by profession, he set up the platform in 2019 when lab-grown diamond jewellery started to gain momentum in consumer and business circles.
The Future Rocks offers an international portfolio of modern, eco-conscious and design-forward premium brands, catering to a growing desire for greater transparency in fine jewellery. It aims to bring lab-grown diamonds into the mainstream by connecting independent brands and innovative designers with consumers seeking unique and future-forward jewellery.
Markets and profits
The LGDs for Gen Zs session will help retailers successfully market lab-grown diamonds to Gen Z shoppers – a major consumer force in today’s market – by examining their consumption habits, retail expectations and preferences.
Conducted in Mandarin with simultaneous interpretation in English, it will examine the appeal of lab-grown diamonds among younger consumers, identify retail opportunities to tap Gen Z shoppers and look at values-based marketing strategies that resonate with modern customers.
Top executives from leading lab-grown diamond jewellery brands will reveal how they are catering to next-generation consumers.
The panel consists of Aven Li, president of X Diamond; Vivian Chen, partner of Yuyuan Inc, and executive president and chief product officer of Yuyuan Jewelry & Fashion Group, which owns one of China’s leading LGD retail brands, Lusant; Leon Guo, founder and CEO of Caraxy Grown Diamonds; and Nelson Liu, VP and COO of Venti Jewelry. Emily Yey, partner and director of merchandise at Lusant, will represent the brand in the live panel discussion.
The Profits in the LGD Space session will help retailers turn lab-grown diamonds into a profitable segment of their business by delving into margins, pricing and retail models for this product category.
Also in Mandarin with simultaneous interpretation in English, it will discuss the market positioning of lab-grown diamonds for fine and fashion jewellery, share retail best practices for selling lab-grown diamonds, and examine margins and pricing in the lab-grown diamond jewellery product segment
