The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has graded the 30.18-carat ‘Pride of India,’ the world's largest polished lab-grown diamond to date.
Produced by Ethereal Green Diamond, the emerald-cut Pride of India was certified as an H-colour lab-grown diamond with a VS2 clarity grade. It was grown using the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process. The type IIA rough crystal from which it was fashioned took approximately four weeks to grow.
Ethereal Green Diamond said it was committed to continue making large, high-quality lab-grown diamonds. The company also produced the 14.6-carat Freedom of India lab-grown diamond in 2021. “Choosing ethically made, long-lasting items is one of the best actions you can take for our planet and its people,” said managing director Hirav Anil Virani.
Valued at US$19.3 billion in 2020, the global lab-grown diamond market is projected to reach US$49.9 billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of 9.4 per cent from 2021 to 2023. CVD diamonds had the largest market share in 2020 and is expected to retain its dominance throughout the forecast period, according to IGI.
