The KGK Group further expanded its African operations with the establishment of a new state-of-the-art diamond manufacturing facility in Saurimo, Angola.
The diamond and jewellery conglomerate has an existing diamond production unit in Luanda, Angola, which was built in 2019. The latest facility is located in Saurimo.
“This development will facilitate extensive employment opportunities, skills transfer, revenue growth and foreign investment,” commented Sandeep Kothari, managing director of KGK Group. “The training programmes initiated by KGK for sustainable employment are an added advantage for the locals.”
The Angolan government is focused on augmenting the country’s economy by promoting beneficiation initiatives, according to the group. The country has developed a world-class diamond hub that offers many incentives, including a free trade zone in Saurimo to attract global investors.
For its part, KGK invested US$10 million to jumpstart its second facility, which uses advanced technology and machinery. The factory’s current installed capacity is 25,000 carats per month. It is expected to create 300 to 800 new jobs.
Kothari continued, “By adhering to the principle of collaborative growth, KGK has proven to be a forerunner in Angola. It has not only marked its ascension but has also laid the path for others to follow and succeed. Being aligned with our vision of expansion and global growth and abiding by our core values of trust, integrity, ethics and corporate responsibility, we have successfully nurtured an ecosystem leading to lasting collaboration for all stakeholders in the country.”
