Jewellery fairs organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will no longer be held this year due to extended quarantine measures imposed by the Hong Kong government on inbound travellers.
The twin shows, which were scheduled for August 3 to 6, will take place in 2021. Specifically, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show will be held from March 1 to 5 at the AsiaWorld-Expo, while the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show is slated for March 3 to 7 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The Hong Kong government has extended its compulsory 14-day quarantine policy for persons arriving in Hong Kong from abroad until September 18, 2020 after new local cases of Covid-19 were detected in the city.
“The extension of this restriction means that overseas exhibitors and buyers will have great difficulty joining the shows if they were to run as scheduled,” said HKTDC. “We are also consulting with the industry to explore other viable promotional options to help companies seize business opportunities during this challenging time.”
