Organised in Mumbai by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the India Diamond Week ended successfully on October 17, attracting 87 buyers from international diamond markets.
A total of 19 Indian diamantaires presented their collection of polished diamonds in various shapes, sizes and cuts to buyers from Australia, China, Egypt, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Russia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, Ukraine, the US and Uzbekistan, among other markets.
According to the GJEPC, the three-day event included scheduled one-on-one meetings between buyers and sellers on the first two days, and an open exhibition.
Pramod Kumar Agrawal, chairman of GJEPC, said such “focused buyer seller meets” during the India Diamond Week are aimed at further promoting business ties in the face of macroeconomic uncertainties.
“India’s expertise and experience can ensure that its exporters can deliver diamonds of any size, shape and quality, anytime and anywhere in the world. All this is made possible by our enterprise, business acumen and massive scale of operations,” continued Agrawal.
India is a leading diamond exporter, with annual shipments of US$24 billion, according to GJEPC.
