The GIA Jewelry Career Fair, scheduled for March 8 at the Javits Center in New York, will offer a myriad of career opportunities in the global gemstone and jewellery industry.
According to organiser Gemological Institute of America (GIA), more than 50 companies will be recruiting for positions in all areas of the industry from staff gemmologists and jewellery designers to buyers, as well as many management-level positions with well-known brands.
Job seekers will also be able to connect one on one with professionals for career advice and hear from industry veterans and newcomers during the opening panel, “Job Success in Today’s Market.”
The event kicks off with a panel moderated by GIA President and CEO Susan Jacques, featuring leading executives and a recent GIA graduate. Lisa Bridge, president and CEO of Ben Bridge Jeweler; Caryl Capeci, president of Hearts On Fire; Timothy B. Matthews, president and CEO of Jewelry Television; Lisa Nikfarjam, president of Lisa Nik Inc; and Daniel Wisner, assistant technical designer at Alexis Bittar, will share their thoughts and experiences on what is needed to succeed in the current market.
“For more than 25 years, GIA’s Jewelry Career Fair has provided a unique opportunity for job seekers to meet face to face with influential companies and experienced industry leaders who can greatly impact their careers,” said Kathryn Kimmel, GIA executive vice president and chief marketing officer and one of the founders of the GIA Jewelry Career Fair.
