The Tahitian Pearl Association Hong Kong (TPAHK) launched several initiatives at the Tahitian Pearl Reunion Night party on September 17, 2024 on the sidelines of Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW).
These ranged from the signing of an MoU for stronger industry collaboration with industry stakeholders in China and Hong Kong and the appointment of brand ambassadors to the debut of a Tahitian pearl theme song.
The MoU unites over 1,000 pearl companies in Hong Kong and China to further promote the beauty and versatility of Tahitian pearls.
It was signed by TPAHK President Chan Ming Wing; Hong Kong Gemstone Manufacturers’ Association President Fan Xiao Bin; Professional Association of Pearls, Zhejiang President Chen Xia; and Shenzhen Pearl Industry Association President Tu Xing Cai. The signing ceremony was witnessed by TPAHK Honorary Life Presidents Wong Tat Wah and Alfred Martin.
TPAHK’s Chan reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promote and educate the trade and public about Tahitian pearls. He noted that TPAHK actively participates in charity sales to promote the gem and give back to society.
The event also saw the appointment of celebrities Jojo Li and Jacqueline Chan as Tahitian Pearl Brand Ambassadors and a performance of the Mesmerized Tahitian Pearl song by its composer Peng Liang. A jewellery parade of Tahitian pearl jewellery also livened up the occasion.
TPAHK Director General He Bin said the association intends to establish a Tahitian Pearl Pavilion to facilitate the trade and promotion of Tahitian pearls; maintain close contact and communication with the Tahitian government to reflect market conditions; enhance cooperation with Tahitian pearl farmers to provide a more convenient trading platform for all distributors and offer higher-quality pearls to TPAHK members, among other initiatives.
