The jewellery world is converging in Hong Kong, with leading suppliers presenting their best selections to professional trade buyers at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) 2024.
Tushar Agarwal of Shiv Narayan Jewellers Pvt Ltd is displaying an impressive diamond necklace at the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The Niva Necklace is adorned with 326 pieces of old European cut diamonds weighing a total of 615.41 carats. The necklace comes with a matching pair of earrings, which is also included in the total carat weight. “The diamonds are certified by the Gemological Institute of America,” revealed Agarwal. “It took 10 years to collect all these diamonds as it is quite challenging to find different shapes in this quality. Most of them are perfect pairs, making the piece even more special.”
Agarwal declined to disclose the price but said he is targeting big-ticket buyers at the fair. “Hong Kong is the best platform to showcase this kind of jewellery because we can meet and connect with global audiences. This is the first time we are displaying this necklace,” noted Agarwal.
Over at Aspire Designs Ltd, the limelight is on its Paraiba tourmaline masterpieces. The Oceans Crown jewellery set, comprising a formidable necklace, bangle, ring and pair of earrings, features 185 carats of Paraiba tourmaline stones from Mozambique and 90 carats of diamonds.
At AsiaWorld-Expo, Madagas Gem Co Ltd of Thailand is displaying its new collection of golden moonstones from Madagascar. Company director Sarbudeen Imamali is targeting buyers from the US and China for this selection. Madagas Gem’s best seller though is Paraiba tourmaline from Mozambique, with demand coming mainly from Europe and the US. “We are selling the top-quality stones for US$30,000 to US$35,000 per carat. Those with more inclusions or with a less desirable colour fetch US$10,000 per carat,” said Imamali.
