Buyers on the lookout for natural pearls are in for a fulfilling sourcing experience at Ocean Flame’s booth at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong.
The company is showcasing an extensive selection of conch pearls, top-billed by a magnificent gem-quality layout of 28 conch pearls from 3 carats to 10 carats. Also on display at the fair are natural oyster pearls of the Pinctada and Pteria species.
According to Bertrand Ternat, owner of Ocean Flame, conch pearls are coveted for their exceptional colour and flame-like structure, with Asia as the largest market, followed by North America, Europe and the Middle East.
“We are excited to meet clients from all over the world now that the September Fair is back,” stated Ternat. “We deal with different segments and markets, and we welcome the opportunity to once again liaise with our traditional clients face to face and meet new and prospective customers.”
The company official remains upbeat about the future of conch pearls, adding that the beloved pink pearl will most likely follow the growth trajectory experienced by other emerging gemstones in the industry. According to Ternat, consumer education; the broadening reach of pearls in Asian markets and other countries; and the conch pearl’s unparalleled exceptionality will drive steady business in the trade.
Customers have become more knowledgeable and accepting of conch pearls, and this has bolstered unprecedented demand for the gem. Keen interest mostly comes from Asian buyers, but conch pearls are also gaining popularity in other markets. And what attracts them the most about conch pearls is their rarity.
“We see a bright future for natural pearls in general, conch pearls particularly. Prices are bound to keep rising as conch pearls remain undervalued for the time being,” noted Ternat. “Conch pearls exhibit such a bright and feminine charm that immediately lights up one’s mood. They are happy, beautiful gems.”
