The second edition of Jewellery, Gem & Technology in Dubai (JGTD) celebrated innovation, inclusivity, sustainability, social partnerships and business excellence by paying tribute to the four Honourees of the 2023 JWA Dubai Special Edition – a regional edition of one of the most prestigious awards given in the industry – the Jewellery World Awards (JWA).
JGTD 2023, which opened its doors on February 12 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), will run until February 14. The much-awaited B2B trade show is organised by Informa Markets Jewellery and Italian Exhibition Group SpA, and powered by DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre), JGTD’s Official Partner, and the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG), the fair’s Industry Partner.
This year’s JWA Dubai Honourees were Dhamani Jewels, Brand of the Year – Retail; Pure Gold Jewellers, Outstanding Enterprise of the Year; Belmont Emeralds, Outstanding Coloured Gemstone Enterprise of the Year, and Kobi Sevdermish of Advanced Quality ACC Ltd, Young Entrepreneur of the Year. David Bondi, senior vice president of Informa Markets Asia, said, “As event organisers, recognising the successes of innovative enterprises and individuals has been central to the Awards since its inception in 2012. It has never been more important than now after the challenges we have faced those last three years.”
Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery, further explained that this year’s edition is took on a unique format to better reflect the challenges that businesses experienced in the last 12 months.
In addition to the Awards Presentation Ceremony, JGTD also hosted a panel discussion, “Inspired Leadership In A Post-Pandemic World,” which featured JWA Dubai Special Edition Honourees – Amit Dhamani, managing director of Dhamani Jewels; Marcelo Ribeiro, director of Belmont Emeralds; Kobi Sevdermish, CEO of Advanced Quality ACC Ltd – and two of the city’s key industry pillars, namely Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman and CEO of DMCC and DGJG Chairman Tawhid Abdullah, who was also the recipient of JWA Dubai 2022’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Martin Leake, Special Advisor – Precious Stones at DMCC, moderated the panel discussion.
