Remarkable gems are the stars of the live-streaming episodes at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong.
Geared for Greater China viewers who could not be physically present at the show, the two interactive sessions are hosted by Dr. Miro Ng, founder and president of the Centre for Gemmological Research and professor at L’Ecole School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels.
The live-streaming episodes are conducted in Mandarin, with Dr. Ng simultaneously translating English-language portions.
On the first day of the show, the Amazing Gems session highlighted the wondrous treasures of jewellery and gem conglomerate KGK and conch pearl specialist Ocean Flame.
KGK displayed the group’s certified emeralds from Colombia and Brazil as well as its fine rubies and Paraiba tourmalines, among others. The group’s Mallika Khemlani discussed some of KGK’s showstopping creations including an exquisite necklace with a 28.34-carat Brazilian emerald and 55.14 carats of diamonds.
Occupying pride of place in KGK’s collection of Colombian emeralds are a 13.22-carat cushion-cut vivid green emerald with minor oil, an 8.02-carat stone with minor oil and a vivid green emerald weighing 12.60 carats. All three emeralds come with GRS certificates.
Over at Ocean Flame, Bert Ternat showed spectacular specimens of their loose conch pearls and conch pearl jewellery pieces, sharing with viewers the features and virtues of this valuable gem. He also revealed his collections of the extremely rare Euclase gemstone as well as natural pearls of the Spondylus species.
In the Gem Jardin episode on September 18, Dr. Ng walked the show to uncover fascinating finds among the exhibits.
