Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong (JGA) 2021 opens today at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), marking its return to an in-person event.
Running until June 27, JGA 2021 is the first physical jewellery show to be held in Hong Kong this year.
The trade fair, organised by Informa Markets Jewellery, is the physical component to JGA’s first omnichannel edition, which brings together the benefits of face-to-face engagements with virtual experiences through its digital element, JGA Virtual, from June 17 to July 7.
“We are reimagining JGA in response to the extraordinary circumstances brought on by the pandemic,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery. “We are embracing an innovative approach, which we believe supports the jewellery community’s needs during these very unique times.”
Recognising the special role that physical events play in generating additional cross-market opportunities for exhibitors, JGA is welcoming pre-registered individual attendees, including social buyers, for the first time while still retaining its focus on the core B2B visitor group. This is a one-off arrangement only. In 2022, JGA will revert to its original format.
“This year, JGA is offering anyone who loves or is interested in jewellery an exceptional opportunity to preview the latest product introductions from some of most established jewellers in the world, and even acquire collections spanning multiple styles and a wide range of price points onsite,” Lau continued. “Whether you’re looking for perfect dream gifts for the important people in your life or simply treating yourself to something truly special, you can make it happen at JGA. This is a one-time-only offer, so don’t miss out.”
Safety precautions will be in place at the show venue in line with the Informa AllSecure Standard, a detailed set of enhanced measures that provides the highest levels of hygiene and safety at Informa Markets events, she added.
Buyer journey
Occupying Halls 1BCDE of the HKCEC, the fair features more than 150 exhibitors representing key product categories, from finished jewellery and loose diamonds to coloured gemstones and pearls.
Visitors will benefit from limited-time offers and special rates of some of the industry’s top jewellers, all of whom cater mainly to the export market.
Packed with original programming spread out over four days, JGA is offering nearly 20 engaging talks and presentations by influencers and experts from the world of jewellery, gemstones and fashion. Taking place at JGA’s I Love Jewellery Salon, the signature sessions are centred on Fashion x Jewellery, Style x Jewellery, Jewellery Chronicles and Know Your Gemstones.
JGA’s I Love Jewellery Experience includes complimentary common gemstone variety identification services by the Hong Kong Gems Laboratory (HKGL), live jewellery-making demonstrations by Hatton Jewellery Institute and sharing sessions by the designers-in-residence at Loupe.
Diamond Lucky Draw
JGA visitors will get the chance to win fabulous diamonds by joining the daily Diamond Lucky Draw sponsored by diamond manufacturer R A Gem. Visitors only need to shop and claim lucky draw coupons for purchases amounting to at least HK$2,000 (around US$257). Only one receipt may be used each time and a maximum of five coupons may be redeemed for each receipt.
From June 24 to 26, two 0.30-carat GIA-certified diamonds are up for grabs daily. On June 27, the last day of the fair, in addition to the prize of one 0.30-carat GIA-certified diamond for that day’s shoppers, all non-winning tickets from all four days of the show automatically qualify for the Grand Draw where two prizes will be given away: one pink diamond pendant and one pair of pink diamond earrings.
The lucky draw will be held at 4:30pm daily. The winners are required to personally claim their prizes onsite. A redraw will be called if the winners fail to redeem the prizes on the same day.
