Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Managing Director Kent Wong’s patented brand of leadership, which hinges upon communication, knowledge and empowerment, helped cement the company’s firm position in the global industry.
Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group’s rise to prominence was the result of a calculated approach to revolutionise the business and reach new heights. At the centre of these is Kent Wong, Chow Tai Fook’s managing director, who is responsible for the group’s overall corporate management, strategy and operations.
With over 45 years in the company, Wong considers expansion and digitalisation initiatives among his stellar achievements. He successfully led Chow Tai Fook’s expansion to mainland China in 1998, resulting in the establishment of 7,600 stores over the course of 25 years.
He also formed a highly capable and visionary team with a growth mindset that is behind some of the group’s most promising breakthroughs and innovations.
“Success is not a matter of chance. Taking calculated risks and testing the market are vital for Chow Tai Fook Jewellery’s ongoing success. As a management team, we regularly evaluate our business strategies and identify what works and what does not, allowing us to make more informed decisions,” he explained.
Wong likewise pioneered the group’s various technological advancements aimed at enhancing customer engagement. Under his leadership, Chow Tai Fook launched smart retailing tools CloudSales 365 and Cloud Kiosks, which offer a personalised shopping experience.
It was also through Wong’s guidance and direction that Chow Tai Fook successfully powered through Covid-19 and emerged stronger than ever.
“Adversity often presents opportunities for growth and innovation. I always encourage people to actively seek out opportunities, explore new possibilities and discover creative solutions amid a crisis,” shared Wong. “I urge them to think outside the box and experiment with new ideas.”
Strategic advances
Armed with almost a century of expertise in the jewellery sector, Chow Tai Fook has become an “industry innovator,” according to Wong. And this business philosophy will carry on, further enriching the company’s legacy and reputation for years to come alongside innovative strategies and digital advances.
“With a 94-year heritage and decades of expertise in our craft, Chow Tai Fook is committed to passing down knowledge and techniques from generation to generation of craftsmen and redefining these for modern audiences to enjoy,” noted Wong.
Chow Tai Fook’s commitment to innovation extends to its products. Wong cites as examples the group’s HUÁ Collection that showcases a modern style with a Chinese cultural twist, and the Wonderful Life Collection, which featured mixed materials like gold and T MARK diamonds. “We have also introduced the T MARK diamonds with patented nano-inscription that enables customers to identify the diamond and retrieve its record from procurement to manufacturing,” he added.
