The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is kicking off its digital transformation with its most popular report, the GIA Diamond Dossier®. From January 2, 2023, the GIA Diamond Dossier® can be easily accessed anytime, anywhere in a convenient, secure and fully digital experience.
The digital GIA Diamond Dossier® report will be available on the revamped GIA App, the institute’s online Report Check portal and through GIA’s application programming interface (API) that integrates report data into clients’ business materials.
It includes a Report Access Card with the report number, a QR code and 4Cs information that can be embedded into receipts, invoices and e-commerce sites.
GIA President and CEO Susan Jacques commented, "The digital GIA Diamond Dossier® supports our consumer protection mission, meeting the needs of the gem and jewellery buying public we work to protect every day. Switching to digital reports will reduce the environmental impact of our operations, which is part of our strategy to ensure GIA will continue our mission to protect consumers and promote their trust for decades to come."
The digital GIA Diamond Dossier® streamlines processes for manufacturers and retailers by reducing the effort and expense of tracking, storing and shipping hundreds or thousands of reports each year.
It may be accessed in three ways:
- The new GIA App enables users to view, save and send their GIA Diamond Dossier® by entering their report number or scanning the QR code from the Report Access Card.
- The GIA Diamond Dossier® and all GIA reports may be found on Report Check at GIA.edu through the report number.
- Report data can be integrated into business materials by using GIA’s Report Results API, the most secure, dependable way to integrate GIA grading and analysis results into a company’s app or website. The API is specifically designed for gem and jewellery producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, traders and retailers.
According to GIA, its diamond dossier is the most frequently requested and visible diamond grading report in the industry. GIA has issued more than 33 million diamond dossier reports since its introduction in 1998. Available for D-to-Z diamonds from 0.15 to 1.99 carats without colour treatments, the report includes a 4Cs assessment, proportions diagram and laser inscription of the GIA report number.
The institute is ensuring a smooth transition from paper to digital reports through extensive client support, a dedicated webpage, how-to videos, informative webinars, resources for retailers and a robust email outreach campaign.
