De Beers’ Portraits of Nature

The Portraits of Nature high jewellery collection by De Beers, which took a year to complete, draws inspiration from the play of light that reflects off wild creatures’ bodies and the many scintillating patterns and combinations that it creates.

The Knysna Chameleon hoop earrings are adorned with 58 diamonds that encircle the ears like the tail of a chameleon. The detachable medallion meanwhile features a radiant-cut, dark pinkish-brown centre diamond.

Inspired by the captivating colour of butterflies and their transformative symbolism, Monarch Butterfly is composed of vivid orange and fancy pinkish-purple diamonds.

These intoxicating images result from an interaction between light and microscopic crystals to form chromatic effects, mirroring the way diamonds reflect and refract light – their colours playing on the skin.
