Belpearl Auctions (HK) Ltd is holding a highly anticipated South Sea pearl auction, which is scheduled for September 10 to 15 at China Life Center's new pearl auction space in One HarbourGate, Hung Hom.
The Belpearl Tahiti Auction, slated on the first two days, will feature independent black South Sea pearl producers from French Polynesia, followed by Timor Otsuki Mutiara and Indopacific from Indonesia. The last leg of the sale will present renowned pearl company, Tasaki, and Sumapi from the Philippines.
Belpearl Auctions' June sale generated approximately US$7.67 million. A total of 769 South Sea pearl lots from Myanmar, Indonesian and French Polynesian producers were offered during the successful six-day event.
“The June auction started strongly, with the first two days showcasing some of the finest pearls in Indonesia through Bima Sakti Mutiara and Timor Otsuki Mutiara,” revealed Michael Hajjar, director of Business Development at Belpearl Auctions.
Hajjar cited these companies' reputation for providing top-quality pearls, adding that auction results showed buyers' eagerness to secure lots from latest harvests. After the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, Belpearl also held its maiden auction for Tasaki that showcased excellent golden South Sea pearl lots, over 90 percent of which were sold.
“The final event was the Belpearl Tahiti Auction, which highlighted over 350,000 pearls from across French Polynesia, including some of the finest black South Sea pearls available. Strong prices were paid for superior lots as auction members continue to place premiums on finer items in low supply despite the abundance of commercial-quality merchandise,” noted Hajjar.
