A wider variety of eco-friendly display and packaging solutions is now available to jewellers to help them meet consumers’ growing preference for sustainable materials.
For instance, packaging manufacturer Jewel Pak International is offering an extensive selection of jewellery display and packaging solutions made of various environment-friendly materials.
“There is rising awareness of and preference for sustainable products among today’s consumers. As such, we prioritise the use of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood and paper alongside recycled materials in our production process,” said Amos Chim, marketing manager of Jewel Pak International.
The company uses recycled paper to produce paper bags and jewellery boxes that are in turn 100 per cent recyclable. Additionally, its leather is made of recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles.
According to Chim, the European market particularly favours products made of such materials as companies need to adhere to the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), which entered into force on July 18, 2024.
Applied to a broad range of physical products with limited exemption such as food, feed and medicinal items, ESPR aims to make sustainable products the norm on the EU market and reduce their overall environmental and climate impacts.
Luxury Concept Ltd likewise highlights its eco-friendly jewellery display and packaging collections.
“The European and the Middle Eastern markets are showing a strong interest in green materials. We are developing a wood-patterned leather using coffee grounds and incorporating more biodegradable materials into our products,” said Carrie Ho, director of Luxury Concept Ltd. She also noted that more colourful and fancier packaging designs are gaining traction in the market.
Jewellery and watch storage and accessories company Wolf 1834, meanwhile, introduced the new Wolf X Bea Bongiasca travel collection, which include jewellery boxes, rolls and portfolios. According to the company, these “free-of-animal and cruelty-free” products are designed with a focus on conscious and sustainable practices, featuring luxurious velvet, embroidered micro-suede and vegan leather.
