Pearls are the stars of Orient Odyssey, a special educational programme focusing on the fascinating life of pearls to be held at Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) 2024 in September.
The event will centre on the intriguing journey that the pearl oyster takes to produce some of nature’s most perfect creations, according to JGW organiser Informa Markets Jewellery.
Orient Odyssey is presented by Informa’s Jewellery & Gem Knowledge Community, the same team behind the highly successful Red Radiance ruby showcase at JGW 2023 and its sequel, Red Radiance 2.0 – The Ruby’s Mine-to-Market Adventure, at Jewellery & Gem ASIA (JGA) Hong Kong 2024.
Scheduled to take place at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from September 18 to 22, Orient Odyssey will feature a mini exhibition and various pearl-inspired activities during the show.
The experience invites participants to explore and discover the timeless beauty of pearls from around the world, including saltwater and freshwater pearls.
“Under our Jewellery & Gem Knowledge Community, we launch a new initiative every year focusing on a specific jewellery product that will be the subject of a mini exhibition and programme. We introduce the project in September and hold an expanded and upgraded version in June,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery.
“As the market is extremely competitive at present, the Orient Odyssey programme aims to provide traders and consumers with information and insights about pearls. We are happy to have gained the support of leading players in the pearl industry for this project,” continued Lau.
Orient Odyssey’s platinum sponsors so far include Autore, Edison Pearls, Hatta New World Co Ltd, Jewelmer, Paspaley, Japan Pearl Promotion Society and Japan Pearl Exporters' Association. More programme partners will be announced soon.
