Desired worldwide for its inherent beauty, durability and rarity, platinum stands tall as a precious metal of choice and a pivotal element in luxury jewellery designs.
Esteemed jewellery brands Harry Winston, Tiffany & Co, De Beers Jewellers, Lorraine Schwartz and Fred Leighton, to name a few, have all embraced the use of platinum in their jewellery collections, with the metal’s natural white appearance serving as a perfect backdrop to enhance the brilliance of diamonds and coloured gemstones.
A recent collection from celebrated jeweller Oscar Heyman brings this message to the fore. Headlining this glittering assortment of platinum jewellery pieces is a necklace adorned with a 3.01-carat pink sapphire and diamond accents, and a pair of platinum earrings embellished with 12.50 carats of aquamarine stones.
Bulgari’s bespoke platinum jewellery pieces, meanwhile, dazzled at the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards in London, England on February 18. Award-winning actress Carey Mulligan wore a platinum necklace with 31 round brilliant-cut sapphires, 17 round brilliant-cut diamonds and pavé diamonds from Bulgari’s High Jewellery collection.
Actress Gillian Anderson, for her part, donned a Bulgari High Jewellery collection ring and earrings in platinum with emerald centre stones and diamonds.
Also at the forefront of global platinum jewellery marketing campaigns is the Platinum Guild International (PGI) through its branded collections and curated promotions.
The Platinum Love Bands from PGI’s Platinum Days of Love collection stands out as a solid symbol of love and is marketed towards the bridal jewellery sector.
Platinum rings from this collection come in a variety of design options including geometric patterns, statement and central motifs, solitaires and two-toned textures.
Pallavi Sharma, business director of PGI, said, “The design narrative of the Platinum Days of Love collection is intrinsic to platinum – sleek, contemporary and versatile.”
PGI’s Platinum Evara, meanwhile, showcases an array of modern platinum necklaces, rings and earrings crafted with 95 per cent pure precious platinum, revealed PGI.
