Pearl jewellery is becoming trendier by the day while retaining its timeless elegance, with royals, celebrities and other high-profile individuals favouring pearls more and more as fashion centrepieces.
Viewed as the perfect combination of classic and chic, pearls have become the go-to jewellery of royalties, including Catherine, Princess of Wales, while actresses and political figures were instrumental in giving pearls a more modern appeal. Younger buyers likewise see pearls as a more sustainable choice, often gravitating towards edgier, more contemporary designs.
Golden South Sea pearl expert Jewelmer most recently celebrated the gem’s classic allure with the La Mer en Majesté crown that it designed for Miss Universe Philippines 2022 early this year. Inspired by the white foam of ocean waves reaching the shoreline, the La Mer en Majesté collection features luminous pearls in delicate designs.
Celebrated pearl jeweller Assael meanwhile highlighted the pearl’s versatility with its latest campaign, Elegance with Attitude, which focuses on new and exciting ways of wearing pearls that transcend genders, generations and lifestyles.
The campaign shines the spotlight on new pearl designs from the Bubbles Collection by Sean Gilson for Assael as well as classic Assael strands, sautoirs, earrings and rings, and new additions from the Colors, Pairings and Modernist collections. “Worn by all genders with fresh, contemporary styling, the pearls come to life in both casual and couture designer attire, reflecting the elegance with attitude theme,” noted Assael.
