In a world where virtual conferences and meetings have become the norm, mask-clad jewellery lovers can choose from a plethora of design-centric earrings – from classic hoops and studs to trendier danglers – to easily and effortlessly upgrade a look.
Buyers can opt for various types of earrings. Studs, which usually feature single stones in a more subdued style, are easy and comfortable to wear, and would go well with any outfit. Diamond studs are a staple in most jewellery boxes.
Hoop earrings are a classic in their own right. Plain gold or gem-studded, these earrings come in various shapes, colours, sizes and styles, and look great in either a laidback get-up or a more glamorous ensemble.
Another popular choice is a pair of drop or dangle earrings, which is designed to hang below the earlobe for maximum visibility and impact. A more elaborate type of danglers are chandelier earrings that bring to mind elegant, intricately designed chandeliers.
Other edgier, more contemporary styles are threader earrings and ear climbers.
According to Hong Kong-based jewellery designer and environmentalist Jeanine Hsu, founder and creative director of niin, alternative jewellery designs that go well with face masks such as earrings are on the rise and designers should keep this in mind when planning their upcoming lines.
Germany-based Yana Nesper for her part said various trends have emerged during the pandemic – buyers are likely to gravitate towards minimalistic pieces with geometric designs as well as more versatile items that can be worn in multiple ways.
Mismatched earrings that help wearers achieve a more personalised look will also be highly sought after alongside pearl-adorned pieces in yellow gold, added Nesper.
